ROSE-COLOURED RETRO-GLAMOUR

Milan experienced an economic boom in the 50s, attracting not only tourists but also Italians from other regions to the city. Numerous companies have been set up since the 50s and 60s. For instance, in Lainate just outside Milan, the printing ink factory Colograf, started producing in 1951. Nowadays, the founder‘s children manage the family company, and their success has meant that production premises have had to be extended. The architects Alessandra de Mico, Giacomo Rivolta and Salvatore Urso planned to locate the 6000 m², two-storey extension, containing production, logistics, laboratory and warehouse facilities, next to the old company. The really ingenious idea was making the façade overlooking the road and giving a face to the company‘s history. Adopting a 60s building style, they modelled the shell of the building to form a three-dimensional raster and emphasised this design with the Spectra colour Sakura. ALUCOBOND spectra® multi-tone colours vary even on flat surfaces depending on the angle of viewing and the three-dimensional shell makes this iridescence particularly evident. The building now takes effect as wrapped in glossy pale pink cellophane, gleaming like La Dolce Vita.
