Rural villa in Biddinghuizen
Design of interior and garden, restyling of the exterior
The residents of this rural property wanted to undertake a major renovation just one time and then never have to move again. Mariska Jagt designed a completely new interior for the ground floor, modernised the house’s exterior and closely collaborated with garden and landscape specialist Knops Tuindesign in the garden’s overall design, ensuring the home’s synergistic relationship with the outdoor space and natural environment.
The interior
Mariska enlarged the home’s entrance hall, in which the corridor along the stairs leads to the private domain of the residents and the double steel pivot doors grant access to the home’s arresting living space. At the front, she unleashed her imaginative expertise by designing a warm and stylish custom-made kitchen, which is, owing the open character of the home, connected to the inviting dining area and the richly furnished living room. Mariska applied a serene colour palette and natural materials such as wood, steel, linen and velvet. The works of art, bespoke lighting plan, organic shapes and artistic fixtures add adventure and depth to the interior.
Exterior and garden
Studio Mariska Jagt gave the villa a modern, luxurious look by embellishing the exterior with white stucco, dark panels and dormer windows. The windows installed on the left side allow in abundant natural light and provide wonderful views across the property’s spacious grounds. On the right-hand side, the renowned agency, in collaboration with Barbasso, designed an eye-catching pool house—naturally, fitted with every modern convenience—and a swimming pond, which allows the clients to experience a wonderful holiday feeling at home. They can reach the luxurious outdoor space through the double doors of their suite. In the pool house, we find a well-appointed outdoor kitchen, elegant dining area and spacious lounge area. The see-through fireplace, which acts as a room divider, creates a refuge in the sumptuous space. The pool house is situated on a concrete podium, lending the bespoke object additional value and prestige. The horizontal view through the wall behind the swimming pond allows the residents to also enjoy a living, rural painting from this position. The purple art object—like the elevated pool house—completes the striking outdoor space.
