Thermoflor en HPW Architecten spreiden hun vleugels uit naar Canada voor bouw groots retail centrum (CA)

De broers Colin en Steve Wilson, tuincentrum ondernemers in het Canadese Saskatoon, gaan voor de bouw van een groots nieuw tuincentrum in zee met de Britse architecten van HPW en het Nederlandse Thermoflor. Hun nieuwe ‘destination garden centre’ wordt tweemaal zo groot als de huidige winkel, maar liefst 12.000 m2. Het maakt deel uit van een groot nieuw retail en leisure centrum, waarin ook diverse andere winkels, een restaurant en een sportschool worden gevestigd.

De broers Wilson wilden er zeker van zijn met de beste specialisten in retail design te werken. Ze kwamen uit bij een combinatie van het Britse architectenbureau HPW en de Nederlandse tuincentrum specialist Thermoflor. Thermoflor en HPW werken al geruime tijd samen in de Britse markt en realiseerden al diverse mooie winkels samen, o.a. voor Rosebourne.

Slimme combinatie met entertainment
Het nieuwe tuincentrum wordt op 200 meter afstand van het huidige tuincentrum gerealiseerd. Tot de opening blijft de huidige winkel geopend en in bedrijf. Om het gebouw het jaar rond te kunnen exploiteren, is een slimme combinatie met entertainment activiteiten gezocht. Enkele maanden per jaar wordt een gedeelte van de kassen ontruimd en wordt deze ruimte benut als indoor go kart circuit.
