Krill o.r.c.a.
Office for Resilient Cities and Architecture
Krill, Office for Resilient Cities and Architecture develops powerful architectural imagery, providing room for change, and designs spaces with inviting forms of use, at the same time normal and surprising. People must be able to interpret and use the built environment as they wish. The value of architecture is the use people make of it, and this use is never fixed. Architecture and cities must therefore be resilient, capable of accommodating changes, while keeping their essential socially sustainable and aesthetic characteristics.
Krill o.r.c.a. has been responsible for a number of excellent designs and realizations in which this vision is portrayed. Liveability, sustainability, and innovation are important concepts in the work of Krill. In order to realise these ambitions, Krill has collected a large network of renowned and highly professional experts on different disciplines, such as art, interior climate design, landscape architecture, sociology and buidling technigues, connected to highly esteemed insitutes such as Technical University of Delft, IHS- Erasmus University and more.
Krill o.r.c.a. is engaged in three fields of work: architecture, research, and urban design. The architectural work ranges from transformation to new, housing to offices and public facilities, and has been awarded and shortlisted in multiple occasions.
Research is key to the development of Krill’s work. This is carried out in close collaboration with a number of universities, such as Technical Univer- sity of Delft, on the impact of architectural spaces on social interaction, the Gajah Mada University in Yogyakarta-Indonesia, on development tools for the green growth of peri-urban areas, and IHE- Unesco on water related issues in the city of Band- ung. These researches are being published in books and magazins.
Urban planning is approached from a transformational starting point. Krill carries a strong believe in the hidden treasure of the existing context, be it social, architectural or in landscape. As such Krill has proposed urban development schemes that are now being converted into a national Indonesian programme, but also projects to alliviate slum areas with the use of social capital of the community.
