Now more than ever, home owners, business owners, developers and architects around the world are looking for ways to transform empty rooftop spaces into beautiful living spaces. Property costs are increasing, footprints are decreasing in size, yet building costs continue to increase. Nestled beautifully into a downtown Sacramento city block that fronts onto 20th street and runs between P Street and R Street, is the 20 PQR Development by The Grupe Company – designed by Ellis Architects. This interesting row of 32 luxury, 3-story single-family town homes ranging between 1,750 square feet and 1,850 square feet, are arranged in four groupings of 8 homes. Due to the size of the lots and having no room for a yard, it’s no surprise that careful consideration was given to develop a usable outdoor living space on each private rooftop.

duraSTRONG Rubber Paving Tiles, manufactured by sofSURFACES were installed on the flat, low-slope rooftops directly on top of a GAF TPO system. The deck area of each building offered around 700 sq. ft. of additional living space and featured internal drains and parapet walls which made for easy installation of our tiles. The 2.0” thick recycled rubber tile features a raised, hollow-core stanchion that allows for proper sheet drainage to the low point on the roof – above and below the tile. Backed by our best-in-industry limited lifetime warranty, duraSTRONG provides thermal and mechanical protection – greatly extending the usage life of the roofing membrane beneath.
