WHITE AS A WAY OF LIFE

The design of the new showroom at the headquarters of Ritzenhoff AG was inspired by the shape of a hot drop of glass symbolizing the glassworks tradition of the company. The new showroom was not designed to compete with the classical modern administration building, but to stand as an independent, unobtrusive structure. The majority of the new building is set below the parkland, which follows the natural topography, only opening out onto the outside world through an amorphous glass façade. Even the parking areas disappear thanks to the clever use of different levels and the green paces with salient concrete elements. The visitor is led via white paths to the entrance area made of glass and
white ALUCOBOND®. The small lake directly in front of the glass façade acts as a mirror for the objects exhibited in the interior. The white theme, symbolising a way of life, is continued within the showroom. Exhibition segments with protrusions and varying materiality lend the volume its plasticity. The whole building is a statement in itself and its architecture represents both the products and the company‘s sustainable philosophy. The natural insulation of the earthbound building parts and the heat protection glass contribute to an almost neutral energy balance of the building.
