Blue embellishes the school’s ethos

The recent completion of Kardinia International College’s swimming facility, known as Goodfellow Aquatic Centre, features a unique tiled waterfall entry, indoor 25m pool and learn to swim pool. The Aquatic Centre was a twenty year dream for the College and its founding Principal, John Goodfellow.
The building is a modern deformed structure creating shape and form that embellishes the ethos of the schools collective learning structures and programs. The centre is at the main entry to the school and is highly visible from the main highway, providing the public an image of the schools high regard for the built form and quality of outcomes that permeates into the highest quality of education they provide. The façade made of ALUCOBOND^®spectra reinforces the modern shapes. The building has state of the art technology in the mechanical system. It is is fully sealed and pressurised keeping heat and humidity to the pool surface. This reduce significantly the pool running costs and negates all condensation and degradation of finishes and fixtures.
The Goodfellow Aquatic Centre is in close proximity to the Katsumata Centre of Kardinia College, built in 2011 by James Deans. It continues with the materiality of the outer envelope: the striking façade of Katsumata Centre was executed in ALUCOBOND^® spectra as well.
