Constant modernisation

The district Mériadeck has its origins in the marshlands surrounding the city of Bordeaux. The Hôtel de la Cub is an elevated tower, the highest in the Mériadeck district, designed by famous French architect Jean Willerval. At the end of the 1970s, the construction was presented as a “novel and original achievement, using techniques allowing the recovery of solar energy by the façade, light and unique in its design. At that time, the systematic use of the air breeze for optimal use of the sun in summer and winter was perceived as an aesthetic innovation. However, its great originality really stems from the construction system, inspired by that of the suspension bridges. Eight concrete pillars support huge beams to which the floors of the upper six floors are suspended.
Now the complex has undergone a major renovation to meet actual requirements with regard to energy consumption, safety and to update its appearance. Set at a central point in the quarter Mériadeck, the building now has a state-of-the–art look. Iridescent ALUCOBOND^® spectra Antique with its colour changes from green to brown is an absolute highlight. For the interior design, the architects Henry Luc Arsène et Alain Triaud selected ALUCOBOND^® in spectra Autumn, White Gold and naturAl Reflect to create an appealing and elegant atmosphere inside the building as well. The whole building is a prime example of how to couple past experience with modern technology in order to keep up with contemporary developments in ecology and design.
The architects Arsène and Triaud have expert knowledge in working with the material ALUCOBOND^® and already have won several prizes for their outstanding projects.
