Tradition seeks modernity

The architecture office Klinglmüller ZT KG built the original Goldhaubenwebe company over 30 years ago. Now the building hasbeen revitalised by creating a perfectly fitting symbiosis between the existing building and the new extension.

The ground floor has been extended to createa circular, completely glazed sample room. On the upper storey, a full-sized sliding door at the end of the spacious meetingand exhibition room allows enough natural light into the space to be able to leave room for furniture along the walls in the rest of the area. To round off the extension, there is aparametric, rear-ventilated ALUCOBOND^®façade spanning the old and new parts of the complex and linking them seamlessly together. Using a computer-controlled process, the individual panels were prefabricated employing the most up-to-date methods and then installed with adhesive without additional fixing techniques. An LED lighting strip behind the hexagonal openings and running round the projecting volume makes the building radiant even in the dark – and guaranteed to turn heads. When planning the extension, the clients opted for the architecture company’s long experience coupled with the modern architectural style proposed by the company’s new generation, the sons who have become team members in the meantime. Combining experience with innovation is characteristic of the traditional Goldhaubenwebe company, which sees experience as the main stay of its success over the course of its 100-year plus history. The present owner took over the then small company at the age of twenty and laid the foundations for industrial clothing manufacture. He specialised in hospital textile requirements and textile rental companies have been part of his customer base for some fifty years.
