White-painted brick is characteristic of the facades of Limburg and forms the cladding of the new four-storey City Office. The large square windows are reminiscent of those of the adjacent Town Hall by architect Peutz (1942), which has been renovated. The new volume floats above the ground on a glass plinth. If you enter from the north side at street level, you can look into the public hall located below ground level. Wide grandstand stairs reflect the striking staircase of the historic Peutz Town Hall. The double-height public hall exudes the atmosphere of an urban living room, where residents have access to municipal services. The informal atmosphere promotes interaction and connection, but there are also more private spaces for more privacy.

Natural light
An enormous void cuts through the City Office, allowing natural light to enter the entire building. A vegetated inner wall forms the eye-catcher of the stairs that lead to the office floors. The office workplaces are located along the facade. Discussion areas and meeting places are placed close to or on the mezzanine. This middle zone has an informal character with specially designed furniture that strengthens the identity of the different floors. Wood and natural stone bring warmth to all floors and match the Peutz Town Hall.

Central axis
The entrance zone and public hall are located on a central axis that connects to the renovated Town Hall. The historic public hall has been restored to its former glory and transformed into a meeting center with a 'meeting square', where entrepreneurs and local administrators can meet each other. A private entrance makes opening outside office hours easy. The Council Chamber also received an upgrade. Technical installations have been renewed and the hall is covered with wooden slats and acoustic plasterwork. A smart breakthrough provides more space for both large council meetings and smaller committee meetings.

Composition
The two buildings form a balanced composition in the Limburg landscape. Seating, biodiverse planting, height differences and connecting routes give the City Office and Town Hall an urban sense of place, like an open-air stage for city life. Due to the compact new construction, PV panels on all roofs and the energy-efficient installation principle, the complex is energy neutral.
