Companies with an innovative product that incorporates aluminium can win an important prize by taking part in this year’s
European Aluminium Award
. Winning a prestigious prize such as this European Aluminium Award not only recognises your innovative approach to business, but is also an important stimulus that helps to promote your company. The Awards will be handed out during
the International World Trade Fair ALUMINIUM
2008, which is held on 23-25 September 2008 at Messe Essen in Germany.
For every aluminum innovation
Designers, manufacturers, builders and constructors can enter into various categories for the 6th European Aluminium Award 2008 Industrial Design & Engineering. The competition is held every 2 years.
The Aluminium Award is given to products or projects in which aluminium has been applied in an innovative manner. An independent jury makes a selection from the nominated entries. Every company that has an aluminium innovation can enter and both industrial and consumer products can take part. The closing date for submission is 1st July 2008. Admision fee is 450 excl. VAT for commercial manufacturers.
Larger than ever
The European Aluminium Award is an initiative of the Dutch Aluminium Centre. For this sixth edition a wide base has been acquired through the support of the European Aluminium Association (
EAA
), the GDA - the German Aluminium Association - and ALUMINIUM 2008, the largest trade show in the area of Aluminium in the world. In addition, the leading companies
ALCAN
,
ALCOA
and
HYDRO ALUMINIUM
are now involved as main sponsors of the competition.
Awards for industrial and consumer products
In connection with the wide spectrum of ‘Industrial Design & Engineering’ this year 6 European Aluminium Awards will be given in 2 categories:
• Consumer Products
• Industrial Products
3 Awards will be given for each category.
For Consumer Products there are Awards for Design, Durability and Innovation. The Industrial Products category is divided into “Automotive and Transport”, “Building and Construction” and “Mechanical Engineering and Electronics”. In addition, the Jury is free to give a Jury Award for a special achievement.
Prize-giving during award gala 2008
The European Aluminium Award 2008 Design & Engineering is given during the Award Gala on Tuesday, 23 September at the International Trade Fair ALUMINIUM 2008 at Messe Essen, Germany. All entries will be on display during the show in the Galeria, the dazzling heart of ALUMINIUM 2008, the International Trade Fair & Conference, that lasts from 23 September to 25 September. Some 16000 visitors and 700+ exhibiting companies are expected from more than 40 countries.
Judging
The independent international jury is headed by Prof. Laurens Katgerman, of the Technical University of Delft. Other jury members come from Germany, England, Italy and Scandinavia. In principle the products must be designed for mass and serial production. For each category a selection committee compares the entries against the regulations. The nominated entries are then assessed by an independent jury. The winner of the
Aluminium Award receives a sculpture, made of bauxite and aluminium, as well as a certifi cate. The winners and nominees are presented during the ALUMINIUM 2008 Trade Fair.
Criteria
To be eligible for the European Aluminium Award 2008 the products have to have been produced or put onto the European market after 1 July 2006 and must incorporate aluminium applied in a practical or innovative manner. When assessing the entries account is taken of originality and functionality, design, durability, the possibility of re-using their applied materials as well as the representation and promotional value for aluminium.
Enter and win!
Products or projects must be registered at one’s own initiative by 1 July 2008. Regulations and registration forms for the European Aluminium Award 2008 can be requested and sent free of charge or downloaded from
