Green Glamour

Schwäbisch Hall is the vibrant miracle child of Baden Württemberg. It positions it selves as a growing service and education center at the edge of the Swabisch-Frankisch forest. This forest is the starting point of a new strategy in which not urban design, but landscape design plays a leading part in developing an attractive populated area near the city center. "Green Glamour" is an innovative concept for "living in landscape". The concept aims to transform the phenomena of sprawl into spread. This means that homogenous 'suburbs' that ignore the characteristics of the landscape, are being replaced with divers landurbs that go along with the landscape. The task to realize 30 hectares of populated area and 15 hectares of nature is radically solved by introducing a canyon. This canyon not only contains any money driven urge of urbanization and protects the brand new ecological connection of the Frankish forest through the city center. The soil which is gained by digging the gorge is reused on the spot and results in a hill of terraced housing. The different challenges that the new created landscape offers the inhabitants to build their house results in seven different biotopes for the living landscape of the future. This will be done in a way that the classical opposition between landscape and urbanization has completely dissolved in a new synthesis.
